Erick and I went on a 7 Year Anniversary Trip this summer to CANCUN! We were there for a week while his parents so willingly watched our minis. We had an amazing trip and are already wishing we were back to napping on the beach and snorkeling all day long. Get ready for picture overload!
The ocean outside our window
Resort Row. Our resort was the very last hotel on the tip of Cancun. We didn't do it on purpose but it turned out to be a great spot. It was so quiet on the end and we had a nice calm beach with tons of exotic shells to dive for.
Breakfast on the patio
Where we spent 99% of the time we were there! Under the cabanas on the beach.
Our room
The ocean is really this turquoise. So beautiful. And warm!
The jetty that made the waves so calm.
We bought fresh mangoes from this man every afternoon. He started to come look for us because he knew we would buy from him!
Our room-top left
Lobby of the hotel
Back doors that opened onto beach
Pools
Mosiac ceiling in hotel. It was so bright inside you had to wear your sunglasses in the lobby!
Cabanas
Just a few shells that I left behind
We walked out on the jetty one morning to watch the beautiful sunrise
Erick was way better at it
We also went to the ancient ruins in Tulum. They were so amazing. It was so incredible to think of the Book of Mormon history there.
Their Temple
Ocean from Tulum
Man cutting an icy cold coconut for us
Do not be deceived. This does not taste like coconut milk.
Handmade dresses
We snorkled at this reef with the tropical fish and... raccoons? This was the locker room!
Crazy Mexican bug
Some coconuts we unsuccsessfully tried to open
This is how many times we got guilted into buying handmade bracelets from the tiny, adorable children who try to hustle you everytime you walk outside. They work 24 hours shifts! We gave them candy and bought their bracelets (and tried to take a few home with us-adorable kids that is)
Nachoooooo
Bulldog Club
(And no I didn't cut my hair. It is slicked to my head because it was so humid it would not dry)
We found the Firestation and Erick talked to the Captain for a while and we brought home some Cancun Bombero shirts
We chased these iguanas aka modern day dinosaurs around a park for a while. But we did not get too close becuase they could whip their tails so fast! Not this guy though...looks like he lost his in battle. He's the one that changed our minds about wanting to swim in the lagoon!
Our claim to fame. I spotted Guy Fieri in the Cancun airport right before we came home. I ate my quesidilla right next to his table. But was too chick..er respectful of his vacation with his wife to say hi or get an autograph!
(please don't mind my cat eyes)
Goodbye Cancun, until next time!
Lily keeps asking me if when she's a Mom I'll take her to Mexico!
